    I had no idea that Italy bought olives all over the world & passed it off as their own.

    I found it interesting how many olive oils are not pure, fresh olive oils. I’m happy to know that Kasandrinos only uses the current olive harvest.

      I agree, it is a very interesting point Jen! You would think that olive oil would be exactly what it says. Glad we have a producer we can trust.

    First of all, I love your podcast and enjoy listening to it on my commute from downtown Atlanta to the ‘burbs. I had no idea olive oil would go bad over time; I will think twice about buying the huge bottles now and am going to Trader Joe’s at lunch – interested to see if any of their’s have harvest dates! Dying to try out Kasandrinos after listening yesterday, think I’ll place an order soon!

    I never knew how “sketchy” the olive oil business can be. I really enjoyed the tips he provided on how to pick the best EVOO (taking all my olive olives from the back of the row from now on!). I’m REALLY looking forward to trying out Kasandrinos!

    I went straight into the cabinet to see what the harvest date on my olive oil. 2014, not too bad – whoot whoot (ok just took it back to 1993).

    I was surprised that he discarded the study about the fake oils but now I know what to look for when buying olive oils!

    I found it very interesting how Tony talked about that you always want to know your source/who the producer is (olive oil, etc.) as well as to know the harvest date (when the olives were harvested) as freshness is very important with an olive oil. Anything under 24 months old from harvest date is still fresh. It is also important that olive oil only comes from one PGI (specific region). Also, if the oil comes in a clear glass bottle do not purchase as the oil gets bad quickly. Always choose the bottle in the back of the shelf that has been out of the light. This was very interesting Podcast where I learned a lot.

    I really enjoyed learning how to pick high quality oils! It makes so much sense but I had *no* idea about looking for a harvest date. Definitely going to be replacing my oil now!
