Fed & Fit

Powder Blue + Summer Boots

Are you ready for some #fedandfitfashion? I KNOW I AM! The thought of launching a fashion column here on Fed & Fit has been on my mind for a while now. After some encouragement from my friend Juli of PaleOMG and feedback from you all when I posted a teaser on Instagram, I knew I needed to take the plunge. My current plans are to publish a fashion post about two times each month. I'll do my best to keep the copy short and provide links to LOTS of options in every price range! This first post is all about a light, breathable, powder blue dress and some summer boots.

Lay of the land: the body of my fashion posts will include some narrative and a bunch of photos. All links to what I'm wearing (+ other options) are provided at the bottom of the post in text hyperlinked form.

While you'll get a feel for my style over the coming fashion posts, I'll summarize it by saying this: it's an eclectic mix of the old with the new, luxury with affordable, and Carrie with Charlotte (I couldn't help myself with that last one). I always like to air on the side of unexpected combinations which usually leads me down a path that blends different looks and style directions into one outfit. I like to invest in a couple key pieces each season (like my sunglasses) and then fill the rest of my wardrobe with budget-friendly options from my favorite shops! I'll always try to fold in a personal touch (like this necklace made by my sister) and find new ways to wear the same pieces, believing that outfit possibilities are endless with a creative eye and willingness to try something new.

Today's post is about my new favorite powder-blue dress and summer boots! The dress is light, flow-y, and has cinched arms that don't pinch. I love the color for summertime and open shoulders for a little pop of skin. While you can wear it like a tunic, I belted it here for a more feminine look. I may also wear it un-belted with some clean white tennis shoes!

Summer boots (I may or may not have invented the term) are one of my favorite style secrets. Part sandal, part bootie, Summer boots help me mix up my shoe game with breathable, comfortable, stylish footwear! I just love the look of a light dress paired with little open back and toe boots!

The necklace I'm wearing is actually made by my sister! Her brand is called Deer John Jewelry. While her stock is low right now, keep your eyes peeled on her Instagram page for when more product may be available.

These Celine sunglasses are my current heartthrob. If you're looking for a pair of versatile, large, fashionable glasses, I highly recommend these!

Dress: Tibi (on sale), rent it here, I also like this one, this one is super cute, and this one. Sunglasses: Celine. Belt: old (similar 1, similar 2). Shoes: Coach (similar 1, similar 2, similar 3, similar 4). Necklace: Deer John Jewelry (similar 1, similar 2, similar 3, similar 4).

Cute dress! And I love the booties/sandals. Question, where is your lip color from? I’m on the search for a subtle yet sassy lip color for a tan skin tone.

Lip is an oldie from Bare Minerals! I think it’s “Never Say Never” 🙂
