Fed & Fit Project Before and After

Pre Fed and Fit Project: I grew up unaware of health and nutrition but obsessed with fat and thin. As a 5’9 woman, being a size 0 was the carrot I could never catch which led to some serious body image issues. However, through trial and error (error being every fad diet available-literally) I found that I had a gluten sensitivity and my body actually likes nutrient dense foods and working out. Go figure. I lost 30 pounds over one year and maintained that weight loss for four years. But as it often does, life got messy, and pounds crept back on. In 2017 I found myself having gained all the weight back and sick.

I tried calorie restriction and intense cardio 6-7 days a week to lose some of the weight, but after a month I had only lost one pound (along with my sanity) and decided I needed a change.

Finding and starting Fed and Fit Project: I have followed Cassy for years and listened to the Gut Health series podcast one day while cleaning my bathroom and had my “ah-ha” moment.

I didn’t need restriction. I needed healing.

I did some research, Amazon Prime’d Cassy’s book, and started right away. I read every single page of that book. The first 100 or so pages are just pure gold, educational tidbits about how to care for, heal, and listen to your body. I took notes; I did the exercises to figure out water and sleep numbers, set goals. I did everything I could to learn how to heal my body from the inside out.

During The Project: I would sit down on Sunday and plan out my meals for the week. Cassy includes a meal plan for you already, and if you download the app, a list populates for you based on the meals you pick. My husband and I would head to Trader Joe’s, shop and end up spending between $110-$120 for seven days worth of food for both of us! We still did one date night and one meal out, but we ended up saving money on The Project.

The meals were incredible. We did not make one recipe we didn’t love. I didn’t weigh myself during The Project, so I was free from the scale dictating whether or not the program was “working” and relying on instead on how I felt. It did a world of good for my mindset. I worked out 5-6 times a week doing a mixture of Pure Barre, running, and exercises from the book.

One Month Results: My clothes fit significantly better. My skin cleared up. I had so much more energy. I was running faster and breathing more steadily. My husband lost 12 pounds in the first 10 days and started incorporating foods back into his diet to maintain (he didn’t have much to lose, he’s just the sweetest most supportive man alive) and still maintains that.

I, however, still had a ways to go and found this way of eating fulfilling and so doable- so I kept going.

Month Two Results: After the first month, I had about 2 weeks where I didn’t change a thing. Stayed with the plan and felt great. Then I went on my first vacation of the Summer. I decided I wouldn’t drink but could enjoy a treat while I was away. For once in my life, I felt satisfied, enjoyed it slowly, stopped when I was full and mainly stayed on plan the whole weekend. I fit into clothes I hadn’t in months, was performing better in the gym and continued to see changes in my body composition. I decided to keep going!

Starting month three: Heading into month three, this has become a lifestyle I don’t have to think too hard about. I still have some goals so will keep close to the original program, as in- I haven’t made a firm “Your Perfect Plan” yet as Cassy intends you to, but I’ve already started to incorporate things back in to test if I am sensitive to them or not.  I have a couple vacations coming up this month and am eager to have a few glasses of wine and some ice cream but keep eating my yummy nutrient dense foods I have come to crave. Who am I?

All in all:  I would tell anyone who doesn’t want to diet that this plan is for them. It is doable, affordable, customizable, long-term health oriented, tasty, male and female friendly, educational… I could go on and on.

If you want to:

  • Save money
  • Lose weight
  • Heal your body from the inside out
  • Get glowing skin
  • Perform better in the gym
  • See a change in body composition
  • Lose weight (while eating bacon and butter on the reg)
  • Become a better cook
  • Learn a ton about nutrition

Buy this book today, or join the online group (whatever is your jam), and start TODAY. I hope more than anything you leave knowing there is a way for you to get healthier without counting numbers on a scale or calories or miles run to burn those calories. Life is too short, y’all.

Cassy, I am so thankful for you. All the resources you are pouring yourself into are changing lives. Caleb and I are healthier humans, we have more money in our pocket, he is a better cook, and I don’t have to buy all new pants. That’s big. I am so grateful and will be your biggest cheerleader for some time to come. You’re the real deal. That’s my Fed & Fit Project Story.

Thank you Chelsea, for sharing your Fed & Fit Project Story!

  1. Chelsea! I loved your story! Thanks so much for sharing and CONGRATS! I thought it would be worth mentioning that my husband and I have experienced the same thing – we spend LESS money on food when living a Fed and Fit lifestyle. Plus, we started using PrepDish back in April, which means we are not only spending less, but we hardly ever have food to throw out / that we aren’t using. It’s the best!
