Welcome to our “Get to Know” series! Each Tuesday (for the next year), we’re going to introduce you to a creator in the wellness space that we think you NEED to know. The creators we feature are of various backgrounds. Whether they’re an online content creator, coach, or owner of a product-based brand, they each have their own niche in the wellness world and contribute to the space, as a whole, in an incredibly meaningful way. We’re setting this up Q&A-style so that you can learn more about each creator’s why, the content that they’re most proud of, and exactly how you can be a part of and contribute to their journey. We hope you enjoy our conversations with these wonderful people and brands. We know they’re going to enrich your lives!

This week, we’re interviewing Renia of Gristle & Gossip. Renia is a fellow Texan and an extremely talented allergy-friendly recipe developer. If you’re looking for recipes that are free from all of the major allergens, Renia’s website is the place to go! Follow along as we learn more about Renia:

Why did you start your business?

Renia: In 2018, the focus of Gristleandgossip.com drastically changed from a platform dedicated to highlighting Houston’s food and restaurant culture to a food allergy-focused recipe and mom blog.

Our daughter was born in 2018. At 9 months old she was diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema). It was later discovered that food allergies were the root cause of her condition. So, we decided that a dietary lifestyle change was necessary for our family.

Gristleandgossip.com is now a space where parents of children with food allergies, and those looking to modify their current diet, can find simple, quick, and delicious soy, wheat/gluten, dairy, egg and nut-free recipes!

What’s your mission/purpose statement?

Renia: Creating allergy-friendly recipes perfect for the entire family!

What 2 (or 3!) pieces of content are you the proudest of?

Renia: I recently partnered with JUST Egg for back-to-school season and shared a simple recipe for a spicy, gluten-free fried chicken breakfast sandwich perfect for all!

We’re also gearing up for Fall with these gluten-free, vegan oat-based recipes!

Where are you going next? What’s your goal for the next year?

Renia: It’s important that I use my platform as a Black influencer and mother of a toddler with food allergies to educate and support those in need of assistance. Whether it be easy allergy-friendly recipes or simply a real person to talk with. My comment box is always open ♡

How can we (and the Fed and Fit community) best support you?

Renia: I’m always excited about adding new members to my tribe/village. Please subscribe to gristleandgossip.com AND follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook @gristleandgossip!

  1. I love seeing support of other influencers in the wellness space. In fact, I found Fed and Fit through a recommendationof Paleomg. I just don’t know how I will follow everyone.
