  • Butter – this recipe does call for butter (our personal preference), but you can absolutely use or olive oil in its place if you’d like.
  • Lemon juiceyou’ll need about 1 tablespoon of lemon juice for this recipe (the juice from about half of a lemon). Be sure to use fresh lemon juice here – it’s way better than the shelf stable stuff!

How to Prepare Your Green Beans

To prepare your green beans, you’ll need to snip off the tough ends (you can buy them already trimmed at the store to save a few minutes if you’d like, but do know that you may pay a little bit extra for the convenience). If your green beans aren’t already washed, give them a quick rinse.

How to Make Sautéed Green Beans

Step 1: Fill a large skillet that has a matching lid with about a ½-inch of water (about a ¼  cup total), and bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Once the water is boiling, add the green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the beans are bright green and most of the water has evaporated. Reduce the heat to medium, then remove the lid from the skillet, and drain any excess water.

Step 3: Once the water is drained from the skillet, add the butter, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned, then toss with the lemon juice.

  • 1 pound green beans

    I followed this recipe with subbing the white wine for chicken broth because I’m all out. It’s like a soup. Chicken with tangy broth vs a creamy sauce. I don’t think the portions are correct.
