Ingredients

  • cup sour cream
  • cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, the juice of ½ a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, blue cheese, lemon juice, buttermilk, salt, and pepper to a large bowl and stir to combine. If you'd like a smoother blue cheese, put all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Top with blue cheese crumbles, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Variations and Modifications:
  • Use feta - if you're looking for a decadent dip for crunchy veggies and wings, but blue cheese isn't your thing, swap feta crumbles in for the blue cheese.
  • Use gorgonzola - gorgonzola, a type of blue cheese, is typically softer and more mild than other blue cheese variations, so if you you like the idea of a blue cheese dip but don't want to jump all the way in, gorgonzola is a great way to start.
  • Use milk - as mentioned above, buttermilk adds a richness and tanginess to this blue cheese dip, but because you only need 2 tablespoons, if you don't already have some on hand and you do have milk, feel free to use that instead.
  • Up the protein - use Greek yogurt or blended cottage cheese (blended to make it nice and smooth) in place of the sour cream to increase the amount of protein in this dip.
  • Use crème fresh - for a lighter, more delicate tasting dip, use crème fresh in place of the sour cream.
