Welcome to our “Get to Know” series! Each Tuesday (for the next year), we’re going to introduce you to a creator in the wellness space that we think you NEED to know. The creators we feature are of various backgrounds. Whether they’re an online content creator, coach, or owner of a product-based brand, they each have their own niche in the wellness world and contribute to the space, as a whole, in an incredibly meaningful way. We’re setting this up Q&A-style so that you can learn more about each creator’s why, the content that they’re most proud of, and exactly how you can be a part of and contribute to their journey. We hope you enjoy our conversations with these wonderful people and brands. We know they’re going to enrich your lives!

This week, we’re interviewing Mely Martinez of Mexico in My Kitchen. Mely started her blog as a way to preserve her family recipes all in one place for her son to have them in the future. Follow along as we learn more about Mely:

Why did you start your business?

Mely: I first started my blog as a hobby, and as a way to preserve our family recipes and have them all in one place for my son to look for them in the future. That was about 12 years ago, and now those recipes are being cooked around the world by the sons and daughters of many other families!

What’s your mission/purpose statement?

Mely: To share traditional Mexican recipes that represent the way we actually cook in Mexico, and to keep the dishes as close as possible to the way you will find them on any given day in a Mexican home.

What 2 (or 3!) pieces of content are you the proudest of?

Mely: I am most proud of my recipe for Mole Poblano on my blog, as well as of my first cookbook, “The Mexican Home Kitchen”, which came out last September and has become a best seller.

Where are you going next? What’s your goal for the next year?

Mely: To keep sharing the traditional recipes I’m known for, to make more videos, and to start thinking about the next cookbook, which my followers have already asked for.

How can we (and the Fed and Fit community) best support you?

Mely: They can sign up for my newsletter, connect with me on my social media accounts, and pick up a copy of “The Mexican Home Kitchen”!
