Welcome to our “Get to Know” series! Each Tuesday (for the next year), we’re going to introduce you to a creator in the wellness space that we think you NEED to know. The creators we feature are of various backgrounds. Whether they’re an online content creator, coach, or owner of a product-based brand, they each have their own niche in the wellness world and contribute to the space, as a whole, in an incredibly meaningful way. We’re setting this up Q&A-style so that you can learn more about each creator’s why, the content that they’re most proud of, and exactly how you can be a part of and contribute to their journey. We hope you enjoy our conversations with these wonderful people and brands. We know they’re going to enrich your lives!

This week, we’re interviewing LaKita of Simply LaKita. Many of LaKita’s recipes are tried and true family favorites, and all of them look absolutely divine! Follow along as we learn more about LaKita:

Why did you start your business?

LaKita: I actually didn’t start as a business. My journey began as a hobby blogger that simply wanted an online space to share family recipes and my kitchen experiments. After a few years, brands began to approach me with paid opportunities, and then I began to take it seriously.

What’s your mission/purpose statement?

LaKita: Modern comfort food recipes that get you in and out of the kitchen with minimal ingredients.

What 2 (or 3!) pieces of content are you the proudest of?

LaKita:

  • Easy Candied Yam – I never made candied yams because my mom makes the best version, but I  took a few things from her recipe and made it my own. Although it is not her exact recipe, it is pretty good.
  • Hibachi Style Fried Rice – This was a staple in my home that I thought was too simple to share, but everyone loves it!
  • Instant Pot Chicken and Potatoes with Green Beans – A complete meal ready in minutes. I love seeing people create this recipe each and every week.

Where are you going next? What’s your goal for the next year?

LaKita: Continue to grow and serve my community. Expand my team to make the process of producing content more efficient. Provide more video content and the usual shenanigans!

How can we (and the Fed and Fit community) best support you?

LaKita: By following me on Instagram @simplylakita. The only goal left on my 2020 list that isn’t complete is to reach 25k followers by the end of the year. There is still time and I believe it can still happen.
