Welcome to our “Get to Know” series! Each Tuesday (for the next year), we’re going to introduce you to a creator in the wellness space that we think you NEED to know. The creators we feature are of various backgrounds. Whether they’re an online content creator, coach, or owner of a product-based brand, they each have their own niche in the wellness world and contribute to the space, as a whole, in an incredibly meaningful way. We’re setting this up Q&A-style so that you can learn more about each creator’s why, the content that they’re most proud of, and exactly how you can be a part of and contribute to their journey. We hope you enjoy our conversations with these wonderful people and brands. We know they’re going to enrich your lives!

This week, we’re interviewing Sam of Salt N Sprinkles. If you’re in the market for delicious cookies + sweets being delivered straight to your door (many of which are vegan, gluten, and dairy-free!), Sam is your girl. Follow along as we learn more about Sam of Salt N Sprinkles:

Why did you start your business?

Sam: I have always been a huge foodie, and baking has been a hobby of mine since I have a kid. I was always baking and cooking and sharing photos of my creations with my friends and family. Eventually, I thought it would be fun to share the photos and recipes with the world, so I started Salt NSprinkles as a food blog about three years ago. After posting recipes for a while someone online asked if they could buy the things I was making. It never really occurred to me at that point that I could do that, but it sparked the idea that I could turn Salt N Sprinkles into an online bakery! The rest is history. It feels great to bake for people and have them enjoy what I’m making.

What’s your mission/purpose statement?

Sam: Salt N Sprinkles is here to show that anyone can start a business. I started mine in a small studio apartment with terrible lighting and an old oven that couldn’t hold a consistent temperature, but I made it work. If you have the passion to do something, you can make it work, too! Many women of color find it hard to start a business due to lack of resources, so it’s important for me to show it is possible.

What 2 (or 3!) pieces of content are you the proudest of?

Sam: I have always loved taking photos and creating content, a few that I’m really proud of include my mini pancakes Reel that I shot for Instagram, and pretty much any of my cake photos. I like to cut the cake into slices and turn them into a flatlay for photos, and my audience really seems to engage with those shots the best!

Where are you going next? What’s your goal for the next year?

Sam: Salt N Sprinkles is growing much faster than I could have ever predicted, and I am so grateful for that! My goals for next year are to get into a bigger commercial kitchen, create unique branded packaging, and come up with more seasonal products so my menu is always fresh and new.

How can we (and the Fed and Fit community) best support you?

Sam: Great question, the best place to reach me and to get the latest updates are on my Instagram @saltnsprinkles. I respond to every comment, and get a lot of ideas on what to do next by listening to my audience there. Links to my blog and shop are also available on my Instagram.
