Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It takes just two ingredients – the base of this pudding (optional toppings not included) calls for just two ingredients: Greek yogurt and protein powder. The combo of these two makes for the loveliest, creamy pudding ever.
- It’s endlessly customizable – this recipe is totally customizable. You can use any flavor of protein powder and play with the toppings as you’d like!
- It’s creamy and decadent – Greek yogurt is thick and creamy on its own, and the addition of the protein pudding doesn’t alter that decadent creaminess at all! This protein pudding is rich, decadent, and deliciously creamy!
Protein Pudding Recipe Ingredients
All you’ll need for this recipe is Greek yogurt and protein powder. Find ingredient notes (including substitutions and swaps) below!
- Greek yogurt – grab any Greek yogurt you love. We used Nancy’s organic probiotic Greek yogurt here, and Stonyfield Greek yogurt is also a great option. Whole milk and low-fat both work, but whole milk Greek yogurt does make for a creamier pudding.
- Chocolate protein powder – again, use any chocolate protein powder you love! We are obsessed with Equip Food’s Prime Protein because it’s delicious and made with just three really simple ingredients (grass-fed beef protein, cocoa powder, and stevia extract). Feel free to use any protein powder you love and have on hand, though!
A full ingredient list with exact amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
Recipe Variations and Modifications
- Add sweetener – the protein powder adds a good amount of sweetness to the pudding, but if you’d like to add more, a bit of maple syrup or honey would be great!
- Make a peanut butter chocolate version – use peanut butter protein powder and top with peanut butter cups or chocolate chips.
- Make a strawberry cheesecake version – use strawberry protein powder and top with crushed graham crackers.
- Make a salted caramel version – use salted caramel protein powder and top with chocolate chips.
How to Make Chocolate Protein Pudding
Just three steps stand between you and a creamy, delicious, decadent, high-protein dessert. You ready? Follow along below for the full how-to!
Step 1: Add the yogurt and protein powder to a bowl.
Step 2: Use a whisk to stir the yogurt and protein powder together until velvety smooth.
Step 3: Top with fruit, homemade whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and/or any other toppings you’d like, then enjoy!
Recipe Tip
- If your pudding gets lumpy, don’t give up! Be sure to use a whisk and just keep stirring – it’ll smooth out, I promise.
- If you find the texture monotonous, add some crunch with granola and/or nuts.
- Depending on the kind of protein you’re using (especially beef isolate, like we used), the pudding will probably thicken if you prep it in advance.
How to Serve
Serve this pudding cold, just after mixing, and topped to you liking. As far as toppings go, we used homemade whipped cream, fresh raspberries, and shaved chocolate, but the possibilities are truly endless. Some other delicious topping ideas…
- Nuts – peanuts, pistachios, pecans – any nut you love will make for the crunchiest, yummiest topping!
- Bananas – there’s just something about a banana/chocolate combo that I can’t get enough of.
- Nut butter – stir peanut butter or almond butter in for a delicious, creamy addition to your protein pudding.
- Peanut butter cups – crushed peanut butter cups LEVEL-UP this recipe!
- Granola – our homemade peanut butter granola would be delish, as would any store-bought granola that you love.
How to Store
If you decide to make a few batches of this protein pudding at a time, feel free to store them in an airtight container in the fridge. Be sure to give them a good stir before enjoying again (the yogurt may separate a bit, but stirring it in will help it to easily reincorporate).
