Ever get a craving for Orange Chicken? I have a weakness for Panda Express’s deep fried sinfully delicious spicy sweet Orange Chicken.

About to make the turn for Panda Express one night, I decided to keep my wheel pointed towards home to try my luck at recreating the dish.

It was a huge success! I grilled the chicken instead of opting for the deep fryer and made my own orange sauce using honey, fresh oranges, and red pepper flakes.

Pan searing the chicken will work well too. You don’t have to grill it if you don’t own a grill or grill pan. If you consider honey to be under the paleo umbrella (I do – if eaten rarely), then this recipe is paleo!

What to eat it with? I put my orange chicken over a bed of fresh mixed lettuce greens. The extra sauce drizzled down over the lettuce and makes for a great dressing.

Enjoy.

  1. this looks delicious but i’m not seeing the recipe anywhere on the post?! maybe it’s my computer?!

  2. Cooked my chicken a little long on the barbie :-/, but overall I loved the flavor. I did use arrowroot for a thickening agent and it worked. Next time I might throw all of it in a crockpot? Thanks for the recipe. Btw, love your blog. Cheers!

  3. This is very good. I’m eating healthier but miss the days of Panda Express. I use the frozen already cooked Tyson natural chunk chicken, when I’m in a hurry…like always!

  4. I too had way too much juice but I took the recommendation of another poster and grabbed my arrowroot to make a nice marmalade type sauce. Yum!! We scooped ours over caulifried rice!

  5. I must not really know what a medium-sized orange is because I think mine had way too much juice. I had to pour over half of it out, then compensate for the other ingredients I lost (the honey and coconut oil). It turned out well after all, but can you specify how much juice you came up with from your oranges?

    1. Hi Christine! I’m sorry you had trouble. I would have to guess no more than 1/2 a cup of OJ. I’ll remake this recipe soon so I can confirm the amount. Thanks for your feedback!

  6. Delicious! I added some arrowroot powder (dissolved in water first), in order to thicken the sauce, because the orange chicken was, in my meal, served as a separate component than the salad. I appreciate you sharing this recipe!

  7. this is going to be the centerpiece of my dinner party this evening 🙂 Excited to try it.

  8. This looks delicious! I have all this stuff in the house too so I may just give it a try.

    1. Thanks for the recipe – I’ll be making this recipe as soon as I get a chance1
