Sparkling Strawberry Jalapeno Mocktail

I like to think that if my personality were a drink, it’d be this strawberry jalapeno mocktail. It’s adventurous, fun, and a little surprising. The jalapenos add a touch of spice, strawberry jam is used to melt sweetness and strawberry flavor into the drink, and then it’s finished off with a festive splash of bubbly water. I adore this drink and I think it makes a great option for any gathering. I recently made it for a baby shower for a friend, Juli of PaleOMG, and it was a hit!

Mocktails are “mock” (or fake) cocktails! They’ve got all of the fun, sparkly, festiveness of a cocktail but none of the alcohol, and make for a really excellent drink option at gatherings! While most cocktails can be made into a mocktail by omitting the alcohol and subbing in sparkling water or kombucha (find our full mocktail how-to here), this recipe was designed to be alcohol-free as written.

Tips and Variations

This recipe is really, really delicious as written, but as with all of our drink recipes, there’s definitely some room to play! Here are a few of our favorite ideas:

  • Control the spice – if you’re looking for a spicier take, include some of the jalapeno rounds in your pour. If you want a milder version, use a spoon or strainer to keep the jalapeno out.
  • Use a different jam – switch the flavors up by using a different jam! Blackberry and peach would be really, really delicious here.
  • Make ahead – feel free to make this mocktail ahead of time! To do this, simply combine the zero-proof spirit, lemon juice, strawberry jam, and jalapeno in a jar, and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy. Know that the longer the jalapeno sits with the other ingredients, the spicier the end product will be!
